Celebrating 40 Years of Connection: The 2026 Issue of FRANKly Magazine is Here!

The 2026 issue of FRANKly magazine is here!
FRANKly magazine 2026

We’re thrilled to announce the official release of FRANKly 2026 (Issue #37)!

This year’s edition is centered around the theme “Celebrating Anniversaries”. It marks a convergence of major transatlantic milestones: 40 years of the German Fulbright Alumni e.V., 30 years of the Association of Friends and Sponsors (VFF), 80 years of the global Fulbright Program, and the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Inside Issue #37, you’ll discover:

  • Personal Reflections & Transatlantic Lessons: Ten lessons from ten years of living in Germany by Alexandrea Swanson, and a look at the human face of public diplomacy across decades by three-time Fulbrighter Dr. Nancy Snow.

  • Inspiring Initiatives: Genevieve Brechel introduces KREATIV UNTAPPED, a project designed to reactivate creative habits, while Dr. Rafaela Rigaud Peixoto shares how Fulbright inspired her podcast on culture and identity.

  • Perspectives on Science & Health: Alyssa Columbus explores data science and open-source practices, while Adel Fansa reflects on shift in perspective from clinical medicine to public health at UC Berkeley.

  • Event & Regional Highlights: Recaps of our major events, including our 40th-anniversary celebration in Dortmund (“40 meets 250”), the Spring Ball in Dresden, Lake Constance sailing trips, and regional chapter meetups across Germany.

  • Jürgen Mulert Award 2026: Honoring ApplicAid e.V. for their dedication to helping first-generation students and underrepresented youth access scholarship opportunities.

    And much more!

A heartfelt thank you to our Editor-in-Chief Vera Fuller, Co-Editor Amy Webb, designer Astrid Weingarten, and all contributors and proofreaders who helped make this issue shine.

FRANKly reminds us that while grants end, the Fulbright experience and community endure. Happy reading!
